Otaku-kin??

Okay, so I was cruising wank (like usual) and came across a link to an Otaku-kin community, which I'd link you to if it was interesting, but it really isn't all that much. From what I can tell, 80% of the members admit to having nothing to do with Otakukin but are "open-minded". AKA easily amused (^_~) I was hoping to be entertained but all I got was a trans-gendered bisexual who thinks they're Duo Maxwell.

Imagine that (-_-)

For those who might not know, Otakukin, in the spirit of Otherkin (haha, pun alert), are people who believe they share a spirit with certain characters in anime/game. That's a pretty simplistic explanation but the main theory I've come across is that all art exists in a parallel universe, and that when it gets written/created here, we're not actually creating anything, just channelling it from another universe. And apparently some of those souls end up over here.

Or something.

I'm pretty open to other religions and beliefs, but I'd like to go on the record as saying, "Bitchez Plz."

As a writer, what I make is my own. Even if I base it off of someone's work (which I do lots ^^), even if I'm inspired by something I see or hear, my work is mine. I shape it, and my heart goes into it. And for someone to tell my that it's just some other world using me as a vessel, it makes me go "Mu."

("Mu" being a sound of displeasure).

Moreover, I think these people need to take a good long look at themselves and these so-called beliefs.

1) Everyone feels at some point that they don't belong. Some even wonder if they're really human. It's a phase. You grow out of it. You go out and make friends and realize, "No, I'm just like everyone else, I'm not special. And that's all right." Because it is all right.

2) There are not that many different kinds of people. I've seen studies which say there are only 16 personality types at all. Finding an anime character who acts like you is not unusual. Saying, "I think I'm Squall because I angst a lot and wear feathers," is...silly. EVERYONE angsts. I can think of a dozen anime characters who angst, so I can guarantee there are a couple billion real people who angst, too. Feathers might be harder. But there's got to be a depressed drag queen somewhere that isn't possessed by Squall.

3) If you think you're reincarnated, fine. I can believe in that, really I can. Spiritual stuff can be cool. But if you're going to be reincarnated Sanzo, except a girl and you have a soft side and like to huggle puppies when you're not being mean...that's not a case of the anime not portraying the "real" Sanzo correctly. That's it having absolutely nothing to do with you.

That's what really does it for me. The, "I'm this person, except for this and this and this, because the anime was only partly right." OMG then why bother saying it's you!?

Okay. I'm done.

On the off chance that anyone who's friended me thinks they're Otherkin/Otakukin...seek help XD
