I made it home alive :D

It was a 12 hour drive back from ConnectiCon, but TK and I made it back just fine. In fact, it was a lovely drive. This was the first real overnight road trip I've done without being dragged along by parents, and I think I enjoyed that as much as the con itself. I had a great time!

Despite being labeled a multi-genre convention, there was really more Anime stuff than anything else. Or really, there were more Akatsuki, Organization XIII, and Bleach Shinigami than anything else. There were a few random elves and some Storm Troopers, but nothing more than Acen usually sees. Though percentage-wise, there were a LOT more cat ears and furry tails running around (lots of really ratty, matted ones, too). But not as many fat guys in sailor suits....

Anyway, we really went to see Jekka, who was pinchable <3. Did most of my buying on Saturday, which composed of:

Ouendan 2 (Rhythm soul burning passionate heart red whatever)
2 Volumes of Gantz Manga
Sound of My Voice (one of the yaoi manga I did but never got a copy of)
The Kouga Ninja Scrolls (novelization)
Two Tshirts: Monokuro Boo and a PW shirt, iObject!

In fact, I wore the iObject shirt back to the booth I got it from the next day, and they asked me to model it to go up on their site! They haven't updated yet, but when they do, they promised to give shipping discounts to anyone ordering the shirt if they came from Court Records. As soon as the shirt's up I'll toss the link around.

Oh, and I bought Pocky :D

The Masquerade Sat night was kind of pathetic XD;;. A few of the skits were giggle-worthy (lol @ Roy bitten by prostitutes) but the winner was kind of a "bwuhhh?" moment. They also showed the AMV contest winners, which caused me to die on the inside. Top it all off with a performance from The worst "We wish we were a real band but we're not so we're just going to play anime music BADLY until YOUR EARS BLEED" rock band ever. God they sucked so hard. EYES ON ME IS NOT MEANT FOR HOOLA DANCING, SORRY, GOODBYE.

But I guess it was good for a laugh...? XD;;;

Anyway, overall it was a fun get-away~

AND THEN I CAME BACK AND BOUGHT A PS3 :D

Of course, I bought...just a PS3. No games. No PS2 card reader. So at the moment, it's a shiny shiny box on my shelf--I just wanted to be sure I got one before the price jumped again and the emulation went to suck. When Lair comes out next month, THEN it will be a fully realized PS3.

Or when I can find a card reader and transfer my Odin Sphere data over.

speaking of which, Odin Sphere is one crazy game!

If you haven't seen it, it's a 2D, sprite based, side scrolling RPG beat'em up. Sound crazy? YOU BET IT IS. The game is fucking gorgeous and features one of my favorite composers, Hitoshi Sakimoto (who has done all the Ivalice games, as well as the recent anime Romeo X Juliet). The story isn't brilliant or anything, but it's solid and I really like the characters. The Japanese voice acting and translation are excellent.

The fighting is kind of simple, and it's repetative, but the game itself is pretty damn hard, so it keeps you on your toes. The alchemy takes a while to figure out, but it's fun once you get the hang of it, and the recipes are cute. There are only two really major problems:

Inventory. You don't have enough room for items. You never do. You can max out on storage and it's still a pain to shuffle the items around. All of this would be solved if you could just have an extra storage space at your home base - for cooking items that you want to collect but can't use in battle. Inventory restrictions = bad.

Lag. The horrible, teeth gnashing, controller clenching, sight-blurring-in-anger lag. The unsufferable and nearly game-halting LAG. LAGGGGG!!!!!!!!!! It's not all the time, but there are at least two boss fights I've run into so far that are rendered nearly unplayable just because there is so much shit on the screen, you have to fight it all in slow motion. THAT'S LAME.

UGHGHGHGHHUURURUGHGHG

Anyway, it's still a great game, and I'm in the middle of Mercedes' story now NO SPOILERS!!!! I have a feeling this game will not end well. BUT I DON'T WANT TO KNOW.

Also, TK and I are talking about cosplaying the Valkyrie sisters, Gris and Gwen. We look enough like twins anyway. I would be the younger one, Gwen:

AWESOME, NO?

Anyway, that's all. This Friday I'm going to be at one of the Midnight Harry Potter parties (helping out, not waiting in line). I'll let you all know how that little delight goes :D
