It be rantin' time

inception_bang is having a round 2!! I'm really excited since I missed round 1 and I have a TON of ideas for longfic. Ideas that someone will want to do with me, however... I've narrowed it down to three choices, two of which I've already talked about in here, one that would be *shock!* gen. HEISTFIC. Inception needs more ~~Bone~~ gen hesitfic, right!? Plenty of time before sign-ups start so I'll make up my mind before then, I'm sure. I'M SURE.

And then there's

xmenbigbang, which I just impulse-signed-up for, despite having said that I wasn't going to write any more X-men. I feel a little awkward about it because it's not for sheer love of the source material that I'm doing it. IN FACT IT IS THE OPPOSITE AND I CAN'T HOLD IT IN ANYMORE, IT'S TIME FOR A CROIK!RANT!!!!

Of course, it was after coming to terms with all that when I was struck by inspiration at work, and so now I'm planning to write a crossover, which is another thing I'm normally not keen on. Fuck my brain. It's the sort of thing people will look at and go, "Wait, what?" and then their friend who's already sped through the fic will go, "Don't worry, Charles doesn't get eaten," which in turn may cause anyone reading this to go, "Wait, what?" We just time traveled. Did you see it?

In other news I'm writing for

ae_angst and fighting the urge to post in 500 word increments, because that would be cheap of me, but that's how the game goes, isn't it??

Post-Holiday update and a rant!

The holidays have been over for a whilen now but it only just occured to me that I haven't posted anything about them. So here's the skinny:

Christmas was fun! Spent it with family, got some great gifts, including a snap-on keyboard for my PS3 controller, Disgaea for DS (yes this will be my first time playing it, please leave you "HEATHEN" comments below), Disney's Robin Hood on DVD (oh, my childhood!) and a new toilet for the upstairs bathroom!

After that my brother stayed over at the new house with TK and I for a while, and then we went with our parnets sto Califorina for my cousin's wedding. She looked amazing and it was a wonderful ceremony/reception. Not my first time in San Francisco, but the last time I was there it was for Yaoi Con (DON'T JUDGE ME) so I didn't exactly see much of the city. This time, we did a lot of touristy sight-seeing including cable cars and Ghiradelli chocoloate and such.

Now I'm back home and waiting for my new work schedule~

Up until last night I was also working on beating Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2, on loan from my brother. And you must know what that means...!

Now that I've finished FFTA2 I really want to go back and replay FFXII, but I still haven't decided yet if I should finish off my old file by beating Yiazmat first. Seems like a shame not to, with that file so close to 100%... I know if I replay, I'm not going to put the same amount of obsessive mark-hunting effort into it again when I know I've already done it (I am especially not fighting Omega again!! 8U) Maybe I'll do some warm up fighting and then Yiazmat and then start a story file over...

I'm doing great lately. Haven't finished my cosplay yet... but I just finished a book today, so I'm giving myself tomorrow off to get the vest out and really do some work. Got Sculpy clay to do the badge, and right now I'm trying to mod some old shoes of mine to use... Not sure if they're going to work out, but if not I might have to resort to black 'cause I'm trying not to spend more money than I already am on this trip. Other than the haircut I'll need, but that's what Borics is for.

Got some good news on the house TK and I put an offer on - they still need to work things out with their bank, but it's looking like they're planning on accepting the offer flat out instead of countering. If the bank gives a green light, we'll get a great deal :D

Though most of my time lately has been spent with my new PSP and the FFT remake (when I'm not working with my porn, of course. I'll do an update post on work later...)

I hate Square

Apparently they hate me, too.

I'm still nowhere near understanding their thought process. They have the Ivalice games: Tactics, Vagrant Story, FFXII… They're different than normal Final Fantasy games. They attract a different kind of fan and they offer a different kind of experience. So why is it that Square INSISTS on trying to make the Ivalice games more like normal FF games!?

Like FFVII. FFVII has been a lot of different things lately: and RPG, a movie, an action game, etc. But the theme of FFVII (emo boys with crazy hair angsting) has always remained intact. Square would never take FFVII and remove the pretty boy angst to be replaced with complicated political and religious controversy. So why the hell do they think replacing Ivalice's political drama with emotional tween crap is a good idea!? WHY!?

Fucking House. I'm so sick of this show, why do I keep watching!?

Why is it that when House betrays Wilson's trust by lying, stealing, and getting HIS PRACTICE SHUT DOWN (because of shit he's pulling that's ILLEGAL) no one bats and eye because "that's just how House is" and Wilson is a tool...but when Wilson does THE RIGHT THING by NOT LYING to the police, suddenly he's a backstabbing sell-out? Shut up and go suck House's dick, Cameron, your "morality" isn't anything more than wanting to be liked more than wanting to be a responsible person.

It's getting pathetic, just how far everyone in the show will go to keep House around. It's a good thing they do, because otherwise he'd be fired and there'd be no show. But I find it hard to believe that House is suuuuuuuuuch a good doctor that not only can he get away with anything, but he can convince the people lying for him that they're doing "the right thing" by protecting him.

Ugh, it's so goddamn lame, I can't watch this anymore >O

~~Which means that I probably will, but only because I'm holding out a hope that House will admit wrongdoing...at some pont. Ever.~~

Apparently there's some wanking going on in

ouranhostclub. Of course, I'm in

ouran_host which doesn't get wank at all :(

I was going to post in it, but then I realized I'm not a member and it'd probably be pointless. So I'll post my thoughts here.

The basis of the wank is that FRoP puts out shitty quality speed-subs. The OP points this out with notations, and says s/he thinks it's "unacceptable." People call her out as being an entitlement whore and things go from there.

Brief rant

Every time I see

fanficrants over at wank I always take a peek, and then cycle back through some old posts in the community to see if there was anything else amusing. I like complaining about teh stupid, I'm still a member (I think?) but it's just too much to have on my Flist, so I only check it every once in a while.

And then I get annoyed because everyone complains about the dumbest stuff possible. Things like there not being any good Yugioh fanfiction, or Shaman King, or BeyBlade, or Ninja Turtles or Prince of Tennis or Kimpossible or Pokemon etc etc etc.

These shows were made for kids, of course the majority of ficcers for them are kids.

I mean, I've watched a whole crapload of Yugioh in my day (not to mention collected cards - don't judge me!) but never would I presume to find "good" Yugioh fanfiction, let alone on ff.net. Let alone complain about not being able to find fanfiction which lives up to the "brilliance" and "depth" of the canon.
